  • Abstract
Behçet Necatigil has clearly stated that he had been under the influence of Ziya Osman Saba in the beginning of his poetic life. This influence was in the form of clear traces at first but later it became increasingly uncertain. In the poems of Saba and Necatigil, there are some common themes such as home, family, the life of middle-class. Both Saba and Necatigil had strong ties to the past and family values, they had fatalist world view and they had the power of transforming the ordinary details of daily life to poetic images. In this article, the poetic connection between Ziya Osman Saba and Behçet Necatigil is analysed in the light of the theory of intertextuality and Harold Bloom’s views presented in the book The Anxiet of Influence: A Theory of Poetry.
