Abstract :
Turkish poetry changed during the time following Tanzimat. After this term, many poets started to include new themes with new verse forms. If there is something that doesn’t change, it is the humour that is one of the techniques applied firstly to create an effective expression in Turkish poetry. After Republic, with changing social and cultural conditions, the usage of humour in poetry steps forward especially in Garip Movement. In this sense, the usage of humour in Metin Eloğlu’s poems who is thought as a follower of Garip poetry, is as effective as it is in Garip Representatives’poetry structure. The aim of the study is to find the answer of the question how the humour is handled in the poet s poems. The genres of humour which take a special part in his poems will be studied in details. How these kinds changed and developed in his poems will be determined. Under the title of “Language games” poems will be handled seperately with hyperbolism, argot, simile, personification, oxymoron, “müşakale”, “istirak” and deviation arts . Irony which can be thought as the humour factor has been excepted because of it s intensity as a separate article topic.
