Abstract :
Starting from the second half of the 19th century, studies and debates in the process of being discovered and analysed of Orkhon inscriptions and Uighur written documents were the reason of the emergency of Turcology which is one of the science stemming from orientalism. During this process, with no doubt, German, Russian Turcolog W. Radloff known as Turcology’s father had big effect. Correspondences between W. Radloff and W. Bang who began the first periodical of Uighur after F.W.K Müller and A. A. Le Coq, and who established comparative methods for Turkish dialects provided the progress of this science. W. Bang also contributed to the field of Turcology with the students he educated. A. von Gabain, Karl H. Menges from German; Yakup Şinkeviç, R. R. Arat, S. Çağatay from Idyl-Ural region; Gunnar Jarring from Sweden; Martti Räsänen from Finland; A. Zajackowsky who is Karaim Turc from Poland are among his doctoral students. In Turcology, in Poland which is the other edge of Berlin Warsow Line it can be thought Turcology emerged before. Because Polish people met Turcs in very old eras. On this line, eventhough there are a lot of scientists who study on different departments of Turcology, especially Gabain who is the student of Bang qualified Tadeuz Kowalski as teacher of all of us. Tadeuz Kowalski was emphasised in this article.
