DEFINITION OF TURKISH IDENTITY AND NATIONAL IDENTITY BONDS ACCORDING TO ÖMER SEYFETTİN STORIES IN THE CONTEXT OF NATIONALISM THEORIES

Ömer Seyfettin, who has many contribution to development of Turkish storytelling and one of the lead figures of Turkish nationalism which looking for a place for itself within other political movements in the process of disintegration of Ottoman Empire, had made en effort to lead the construction of Turkish nationalism. It can be said that Ömer Seyfettin tried to outshine the Turkish Nationalism with the psychology of delay in the times when nation states were keep emerging.At this point, Ömer Seyfettin emphasized the different angles of Nationalism bonds by placing the identity figures he advocates in different shapes while trying to define Turkish Identity from different aspects. In this there are two sections other than introduction and conclusion. In the first section, national identity is explained with nationalism theories briefly. The second part is divided to three subsections which are reflections of authors nationalism understanding, authors orientation of choice of linage and religious elements for defining national identity and examples in the texts.
