Abstract :
A study was conducted for analyzing some social, emotional, and intellectual characteristics of rural youth in one area of NWFP during 2004-2005. All male and female youth (460) of Chokara Union Council were taken as respondents of the study. Analysis of the data collected through an interview schedule disclosed that majority of the respondents were unmarried with an average age of about 22 years at the time of data collection. A vast majority of them were educated as compared to their mothers. Majority (85%) belonged to farming community and about 53% were students. The respondents average family landholding was 8 acres and majority were owner cultivators. The overall mean of the social, emotional, and intellectual characteristics was 3.41, 3.51 and 3.39 respectively meaning thereby the average respondent possessed above average level of social, emotional and intellectual characteristics
