Abstract
This study is an analysis of the meaning of rain based on the situational context. The situational context contained in the Qur an is examined based on thecomponents of the situation in semiotic social theory Halliday (1978) and Siaq Mauqif in the study of the Qur an. This analysis will answer different wordusage issues for specific situations in the Qur an. The role of the situational component is important in the selection of the word in addition to the originalmeaning and other language factors. The selected data are the words of righteous, ghaith, soyib, wabil and wadq which illustrate the rain in the Qur an.The findings show that the words are used in different situations and are irreplaceable.
