A New Central Administration Unit in Local: Monitoring and Coordination Directorates of Investment

According to the legal regulation no. 6360 about local administrations reform in Turkey, special provincial administrations were abolished and and most of their duties and authorities were delegated to metropolitan municipalities. Also, Monitoring and Coordination Directorates of Investment (YİKOB) were constituted. So, there are 51 cities with special provincial administration and a binary local government structure exists. The question how this regulation affects the local government system is the starting point of this study. Within this scope, a meeting was made with the administrators of Konya Monitoring and Coordination Directorates of Investment and information about organisational structure, their duties, authorities and responsibilities, financial structures and control are taken and also the answers to the questions about this directorate are tried to be taken via qualitative meeting method.
