Abstract :
This purpose of this study was to identify the strategies used in translating proverbs (al-Mathal) from Arabic into Malay. An analysis of sample units selected randomly from text translation of “Kasih dan Harapan” was conducted. The study found that the translator used the verbatim translation (word by word) and the method of literal translation, while translation proverbs translated into regular expressions (non proverb) as the strategies of translating proverbs (al-Mathal) from Arabic into Malay.
