Abstract :
Pregnancy in diabetic females is assosciated with higher risk offetal and neonatal complications as sudden intrauterine fetal death, neonatal acidosis, hypoglycemia, ICU admission and neonatal death. This prospective study was conducted on 50 diabetic pregnant females to determine which is better CTG or umbilical artery Doppler as a method of assessment of fetal wellbeing . It was found that there was statistically significant relation between abnormal CTG and abnormal neonatal outcome ( significant P value in all fetal outcome parameters studied) , compared to umbilical artery doppler, where there-was no significant difference in pH and Apgar 5-min between the 2 groups (p 0.05) however there was significance regarding gestational age of delivery and Apgar 1-min which confirms that CTG is more important as a method of assessment of diabetic pregnant females
