Abstract :
This study is aimed for displaying what extent Creative Drama having been used in the 4th class Social Sciences lesson, for the theme “Altogether” depending on learning areas Groups, Institutions and Social Organization effects the students’ achievement. The sample of the studywas determined objectively comprising of the students who are attending the classes of 4-Bas control group and 4-C as experimental group in Şehit Mehmet Altanlar Primary School inKeçiören, Ankara in 2007-2008 educational year. This study has a descriptive quality due tohaving been used qualitative data based on quantitative and content analysis about the levelof students’ success and the results of the t test in the study. Both qualitative and quantitativemethods were used in this study. The data in students’ evaluation form as qualitative methodwas gathered by having been used frequency analysis which is one type of the content analysis.Pre-test and post-test with control group which are the ones of the real experimentation modelswere also used as quantitative method. Whether there was a significant difference between thecontrol group and experimental group in their test scores of the pre-tests and post-tests relatedto the theme of “Altogether” in Social Studies class is analyzed by using t-test with the help ofSPSS. According to the results of the study, it is observed that there is a significant differencebetween the total points of the post-test of the control and the experimental group in favor ofexperimental group in which Creative Drama method was used. Based on the results, usingCreative Drama in Social Sciences class has an essential effect on students’ achievement.
