Abstract :
Intermediate piano education is a process that skills and behaviours about piano playing learned in beginning level are developed, and techniques and behaviours in new and next step are learned. As every stage of piano education so, in being acquired to required skills and behaviours to students, one of the most important tools is choosing correct and balanced repertoire which is appropriate for student’s level. Choosing appropriate repertoire involves a carefully balancing of skills, physical ability, musical interests, pedagogical value and student’s emotional maturity. In this article, by searching the national and foreign references which are related to this subject, intermediate piano education was defined, the knowledge about behaviours, skills and techniques that have to be acquised by a student in intermediate level was given, the principles on choosing a repertoire for intermediate piano repertoire were determined and choosing appropriate repertoire’s role and the importance of the piano education were emphasized
