Abstract :
The weight of sub-scores which are used in the placement of students in the fine artprograms has changed drastically throughout the years. The purpose of this study is toinvestigate the effects of the sub-scores that are set by the Student Selection and PlacementCenter (SSPC) on the placement scores in more detail.Placement sub-scores belonging to 305 candidates who took the 2010-2011 Gazi Collegeof Education fine arts special aptitude test constituted the data for this study. It was found that the weight of the special aptitude scores on the placement scores was found to be %35 ratherthan %75, which was indicated in the 2010 SSCP guidelines. Such departure was due to thedifferences in the scales of the sub-scores that are used in the calculation of the final placementscore. It was seen that this problem was resolved when the placement scores were recalculatedafter each of the sub-scores were transformed into t-scores.
