Abstract :
The comparative research study has been carried out from thepostcolonial literary discourse perspective to ascertain that how thecolonized land of Indian subcontinent had been presented in thenovels: A Passage to India (1924) and Twilight in Delhi (1940), theformer is written by E. M. Forster, who belongs to the race of thecolonizers and the latter is written by Ahmed Ali, an Indian novelistbelonging to the colonized land. The researcher has appliedqualitative paradigm and close-textual comparative analysis to drawthe conclusion. The data collected from the text of both of the novelswere descriptive in nature therefore the qualitative tools likedefinition, explanation, comparative analysis and evaluation wereemployed to produce deductive inferences from the vantage point ofpostcolonial literary discourse along with Eurocentric historicalconstruct. The paper plumbs the depth of social, political, historicalconditions of the colonized land of Indian subcontinent presented inboth of the novels. The study has two-fold purposes: it does notdichotomize but reflects the point of the views of the writers to whatextent they remained objective and realistic in the presentation of theland, where the subjectivity was inevitable for both writers belongingto the colonizers and the colonized.
