Abstract :
The HgZn exciplex was produced in the B0+ state by irradiating a Hg-Zn vapour mixture at temperatures in the range 600-900°C with 2572 A cw or 2660 A pulsed laser light. The B0+ -> X0+ fluorescence band was recorded, as well as the time evolutions of various components present in the fluorescence spectrum, providing some additional insight into the possible mechanism of the exciplex formation.
