Abstract :
Objective: Assess the epidemiological pattern of oral lesion diagnosed by oral biopsies. Place and Duration: This study was carried out at Oral Maxillofacial Surgery Department, Bibi Aseefa Dental College, Shaheed Mohtarma Benazir Bhutto Medical University Larkana from March 2014 to January 2015. Materials and Methods: This was a cross sectional observational study. A total of 112 patients were included in this study. Demographic profile, types of lesions and anatomical sites were evaluated. Results: The assessment showed malignant lesions in 15 patients mostly found on tongue followed by buccal mucosa. Non-Odontogenic lesions were found mostly on buccal mucosa followed by floor of the mouth. White lesions were most frequent in buccal mucosa, inflammatory lesions at floor of mouth and reactionary lesions were common in gingiva. Conclusion: Present study indicated most prevalent lesion was inflammatory lesions in both genders and the most common anatomical site affected was buccal mucosa. The distribution of malignant lesions was common in tongue whereas reactionary lesions were almost equally distributed.
