ÂŞIK VEYSEL IN THE CONTEXT OF TRAUMATIC EXPERIENCES AND MUSIC THERAPY

This study tries to evaluate Âşık Veysel’s poems and his life in accordance with his struggle to maintain mental health and to cope with traumatic experiences through music. First, it explains traumatic experiences relevant to the study. Secondly, it evaluates Âşık Veysel’s traumatic experiences together with the way he coped with them via music, healed himself and maintained mental health by looking at his poems and life story. Finally the study suggests that Âşık Veysel was able to maintain his mental health through therapeutic function of music. The theory and sample of the study consists of evaluating Veysel’s life story and poems depicting his emotions. The study applies sampling method and it is based on Âşık Veysel’s poems and his life story. The study is analysed using descriptive analysis and typological analysis.
