Guest Editorial: The Long Journey to Equality

This Special Issue of Asian Fisheries Science journal includes 12 papers and a report based on the presentations and posters of the 5th Global Symposium on Gender in Aquaculture and Fisheries (GAF5) held during the 10th Indian Fisheries and Aquaculture Forum, November 2014, Lucknow, India. GAF5 was the seventh women/gender Symposium organised by the Asian Fisheries Society (AFS), and the first to be held in conjunction with a national AFS branch forum. For each event, the proceedings or selected papers have been published (Williams et al. 2001; Williams et al. 2002; Choo et al. 2006; Choo et al. 2008, Williams et al. 2012a; Gopal et al. 2014). This is the longest continuous series documenting women and gender issues by a professional fisheries society.
