Abstract :
Gastrointestinal symptoms are common in the adultand elderly populations in North America, Europe,UK and Asia. The prevalence of upper gastrointestinalsymptoms in Europe ranges from 25-35% andfor the lower gastrointestinal symptoms from 3-22%. It is estimated that up to 40% of adults in theU.K. suffer from gastrointestinal symptoms in any one year1. In Asia–Pacific region, the dyspepsia,reflux and heart burn prevalence rate is between10-20%.
