Abstract :
Different types of γ-rays absorbing materials. This paper aims to reduce the direct andscattered γ -radiation dose during cancer breast radiotherapy by applying threeproposed types of shielding. The study evaluated the protective measures to the patient s healthy tissues and organs against direct and scattered γ-radiation by using the mobilized shielding for γ-rays. These types of shielding materials are layers from soft rubber with lead, lead rubber composites or lead glass to cover the healthy body tissue. Also, it may be useful to cover patient table and other back scattering surfaces with rubber and lead layers to minimize the radiation backscattering. The rubber samples were prepared in form of cylindrical slide with 15 cm diameter and 2 mm thickness to investigate the γ-radiation attenuation of rubber. A computer program was developed to calculate the suitable thickness of the above
