Abstract :
The Radon concentrations in three Egyptians houses in Great Cairo were measuredby E-PERM technique. The studied houses are similar in user s behaviors but different in the construction materials and design concept. They present examples of traditional architecture, modern architecture, and modern architecture inspired by traditional architecture. The radon concentrations are measured in 20 different rooms in the three houses. They ranged from ≺ 0.4 to 220.3 ± 11.5Bqm^-3,± 0.4 to 33.7 ± 3.6Bqm-3, and 2.6 ± 0.37 to 70.0 ≺ 4.9Bqm^-3 for Mit Rehan house, Westown house, and Abo Sir house respectively. The highest value of Radon concentration(220 Bqm^-3) at Mit Rehan house is more than the upper reference level by ICRP and EPA. According to these results corrections actions are recommended to be taken in the places with higher concentrations of Radon. Further long-term measurements are recommended.
