SINO-KOREAN WORDS (HANCHA) IN KOREAN LANGUAGE AND THE IMPORTANCE OF SINO-KOREAN WORDS (HANCHA) IN KOREAN LANGUAGE TEACHING

Sino-Korean words consist of almost 70% of Korean language. In order to enhance the knowledge of Korean Language it is necessary to learn Sino-Korean words. This study aims to emphasize the necessity for the teaching of Sino-Korean words in Korean Language teaching. Learners could improve their long-term memory of the words by learning the form and meaning of learned Sino-Korean words. In addition, learners could build up their vocabulary learning strategies to infer unknown Sino-Korean vocabularies by learning Sino-Korean words (word family) with similar meanings.
