Abstract :
This study aims to evaluate benefits of using interactive multimedia materials in teaching Turkish as a foreign language, andpoints to consider when developing these materials. In order to adapt to changing conditions and to shape educational activities in line with new developments, interactive boards, interactive contents and use of technology are increasingly incorporated in education environments. In this context, efforts should be made to make full use of the potential offered by new technologies in teaching Turkish as a foreign language. Many studies demonstrate that interactive multimedia materials, which keep the interests of the students alive throughout the teaching session and improve their attitudes towards classes, go beyond traditional approaches to education and encourage students to actively participate in and contribute to class discussions rather than being passive observers. Interactive materials to be prepared in line with the curricula with the purpose of teaching Turkish as a foreign language are expected to make a positive contribution to students learning and comprehension. In the preparation of contents for classes, inclusion of multimedia materials within the framework provided by curricula should allow more senses to be utilized in the educational environment, and improve the retention of learning.
