Abstract :
History education has been taught in the Malaysian education system for more than six decades. Policies have changed, and syllabis have been moral value added. The many challenges faced by society, educators and students have been analysed and evaluated continuously. In this article, the writer describes that History education is expected to create a harmonious environment between the different ethnic groups living in Malaysia and unite the nation. The teaching of History education with Moral education support was done more than a decade ago, and now it might undergo another phase of implementation. The historical, religious and sociocultural aspects of Malaysia have been of concern since the premier Moral education syllabus was built up. Study needs to be done to see that Moral education in Malaysia is unique and dynamic within a history and multicultural setting. The focus of teaching and learning of History education and Moral education is based on several main principles of producing physically, intellectually, emotionally, spiritually, and socially holistic individuals. The Moral education curriculum aims at developing responsible individuals of high moral standards who are able to contribute to the peace and harmony of the country and the global community.
