LANGUAGE REGISTER IN THE SONG LYRIC “HAKIM YANG BIJAKSANA”

Song lyric is an expression of someone towards matters tht has been seen, heard or faced. In expressing experiences, writer would play with the creativity in choices of words and language in producing a unique and interesting song lyric. One of the creativity is by using various language register in producing a work. Thus, this research aimed to identify the language register used in the lyric text and to analyse the suitability of words selection in the song lyric “Hakim Yang Bijaksana”. Method used in this research is text analysing by making the song lyric text “Hakim Yang Bijaksana” from the album “Pekaka Bercerita” produced by Dewan Bahasa dan Pustaka as the subject. In order to analyse the language register and words in the song lyric, case study by Asmah Haji Omar (1977) has been made as the reference in achieving this research objectives. Result shows the language register used in the lyric is very important in ensuring the work effects toward the listener especially to childrens.
