Abstract :
The aim of this study is to determine the strategic planning applications that the sports coordinators working at sports federations are responsible for and their opinions on these applications together with understanding whether these federations. The instrument used in this very study, the likert type measure “Strategic Planning Evaluation Questionnaire-SPEQ”, has been developed by “Strategic Futures Consulting Group Incorparated” to evaluate the opinions of managers in governmental organizations on strategic planning process and to determine the need for improvement (1). The questionnaire has been applied through translation into Turkish by English language experts. The measurement tool has been applied to a total of 107 federation manager consisting of 31 federation presidents and vice-presidents, 17 secretary general, 20 chiefs and 39 experts. The measurement tool is examined in 5 sections. These are; “making planning functions constant”, “determining strategic basis”, “governing strategic observations”, “developing strategic plans” and “governing strategic planning applications”. The questionnaire’s alpha reliability factor is .98. Besides its own evaluation, the data has been analyzed using SPSS. Having evaluated the questionnaire itself, one-way ANOVA has been used to emphasize the rank-related differences of managers in sports federations. In order to find out the meaningful differences between groups, “Tukey” is used as a “post-hoc” method with 0.05 meaning level has been chosen for statistical meaningfulness. As a result, rank-related differences have been found out that in the opinions of managers working in sports federations on strategic planning process and that improvement is required in every phase of strategic planning process. Furthermore, sports federations are not totally aware of their tasks to be accomplished at present and have not determined the exact position they need to be in the future.
