Abstract :
It s known that chemical insectkillers(pesticides) have detrimental effects on men and nature. They are used mostly on farming. Some recreational grasslands and some sport activity are as such as football, baseball, golf using it. Overdose using, unsuitable land conditions or choosing wrong pesticide type and in organic fertilizer will cause contamination of air, soil and water. If it doesn’t take effective and sufficient measures, greenkeepers who are practice pesticides to soil underthreat. Most golf courses in Turkey in Belek, Antalya. Region have been protected by special environment laws. To sustain present ecology, it should be fullfilled sicientific researches about practising pesticides in golf courses. Research includes 15 golf courses in Turkey. 11 of 15 are in Belek- Antalya, 3 in İstanbul and 1 in Ankara. Questioneeries about chemical applications in golf courses have been sent by e-mail. Because of not turning back, we have’t any data. Quessionnaries mainly about: Are there any offical unit to supervise chemical using? How often and at what quantity are chemicals being used? What kind of precautationary measures do greenkeepers take? Have they got any chemicial waste management? It s advised that: Chemical applications should be arranged with depending on rules and superwised it strictly. Environmental standarts should be developed and built in a certification program. With their own effort or through related federation golf courses should attend environmental programs for golf courses, It should be worked together with golf courses using organic methods. This measures will contribute to less pesticide using and better working conditions for greenkeepers.
