Abstract :
The research is based on the grounds of a screening model measuring the level of aggression in terms of different variables amongst Turkish Field Hockey players, aged below 16. The sample group consisted of 128 field hockey players, 53 females and 75 males who had responded to the survey out of the 397 athletes, from 13 women’s and 14 men’s teams participating in the Turkish Under 16 Field Hockey Tournament in 2010 in Gaziantep. The Aggression Inventory (Kiper, 1984), which was devised by Ilter-Kiper (1984) consisting of 30 items and 3 subscales, was employed. Descriptive statistics were calculated; a t-test and Kruskal-Wallis H test and Correlation Analysis methodologies for the independent variables were used for data analysis. As a result, it was observed that the field hockey players generally have a medium level of aggression. The male athletes were found to be more disruptive aggressive whereas the female athletes were venturesome aggressive. Moreover, a significant correlation was found between the sporting age and the venturesome aggression scores. It has been found that the aggression points increase in parallel to the age of athletes.
