Abstract :
Anadolu Agency as the Turkey’s most efficient and well-established news agency, which was founded in the era of National Independence Struggle to satisfy the need for communication and to inform internal and external public opinion, has its own distinct institutional structure. In the process of establishment of the State, Anadolu Agency started to its broadcasting life as an independence institution with a limited personnel after the Gazi Mustafa Kemal (Atatürk)’s circular letter in 6 April 1920 while he was the Head of Council of Representation. As founder Anadolu Agency, Gazi Mustafa Kemal always interested in the Agency and especially in its early periods he personally examined some news before publication. Anadolu Agency does not have an establishment law since it was founded in a time that Turkish Grand National Assembly did not exist. After the establishment of The Directorate General of Press and Intelligence (today The Directorate General of Press Publication and Information) Anadolu Agency operated under this directorate and take place within the state organization. Even though to it became an joint-stock company in 1925 to report more neutral and autonomously, the Agency never totally withdrawn from contact with the State. After its establishment as totally private owned company, with the will of Turkish Grand National Assembly a fund transferred to the Agency from the budget of Ministry of Foreign Affairs. Consequently, with a distinct structure from other commercial organizations Anadolu Agency is an exclusive corporation. This exclusiveness in its structure is still valid today and has an indirect expression in the Constitution. Stockholders of Anadolu Agency Turkish Joint-Stock Company are also intriguing. One of the ministers of foreign affairs of the term, Tevfik Rüstü (Aras) is the largest stockholder. Kars Deputy of the National Assembly Ahmet (Ağaoğlu) is the head of founding board of directors. Most of other directors were also among those that Gazi Mustafa Kemal (Atatürk) can rely on. Other parts of stakes of the Within time, exclusive position of Anadolu Agency had continued and problems encountered in the structure of joint-stock company were solved by special laws Throughout this article, with the consideration of its distinct institutional structure, unique status of Anadolu Agency will be examined.
