Abstract :
Ottoman Empire territories are occupied after the Mondros Armistice signed athe end of the World War I ande as a result of the war of independence under the leadership of Mustafa Kemal Atatürk, Anatolia is cleared from occupation forces. As defined by the founding document of the Republic of Turkey, the Lausanne Peace Treaty was signed on July 24, has been celebrated with various activities as a special day by the early Republican era. In 1945, after the transition to democracy, during the period of the Democratic Party in 1950 Lausanne Peace Treaty was left out of the official programs and the new government preferred to celebrate the announcement of the second constitutional period. In this preference, the basic factor is Ismet Inonu’s, who signed the Lausanne Peace Treaty, being the leader of the main opposition party CHP. In this article, ‘‘July 24’’ is taken as a base date and what Treaty of Lausanne is meaned, how it is percieved in government area and the reaction of the oppositions are tried to be stated.
