  • Abstract
Greece, having the approval of the Entente States, had landed troops at İzmir after the World War I. But Greece did not have the economic power to carry out this war alone in Anatolia. Moreover, while the war was continuing, the relation of Greece with the Entente States got worse because Venizelos overthrown and the King Constantine returned back. This war, started with the credits taken by the Entente States, came to dead end because of the cutting of the credits as a result of political disputes. Beside the political crisis, military defeats on the Western Front started a financial crisis in Greece. As the loan seeking was failed, Greece was led to a bankruptcy. Turkish Press closely followed the drachma’s reasons of decline and Greece’s credit seeking. In this study, the financial bankruptcy of Greece in the years of National Struggle was examined in the frame of the news in the Turkish Press.
