Abstract :
Having seen as an existential threat by many civilizations for decades, epidemics has deeply affected political and socio-economical life in Anotolia for years. As a result of squalidity, improvidence and poverty especially in the Balkan and the following 1st World War years, unpreventable epidemics emerged at the last terms of empire when thousands of infected immigrants involved to the infected native people. Being aware of the alarming situation about the community health care, The Grand National Assembly of Turkey (GNAT) Government provided to establish Health and Social Assistance Ministry by the law no.3 which is enacted at 2nd of May 1920. The books which published firstly in 1922 with the name of “Türkiye’nin Sıhhî-i İctimâî Coğrafyası”, contain valuable informations about the epidemics’ periodical situation as well as the physical and the socio-economical properties of the handled territory. In the study, “Sıhhî-i İctimâî Coğrafya” books of six province (Niğde, Kayseri, Konya, Ankara, Kırşehir, Çankırı) which they are in Central Anatolia Region today, have been reviewed and datas about four frequent basic disease (syphilis, malaria, tuberculosis, smallpox) have been compiled for picturizing the general health condition of the region at that period. It is assessed that the study would make informative contribution to those whom conduct a study on epidemics or city history.
