Abstract :
The aim of this study was to investigate the relationship between balance and agility performance in tennis players aged 12. In this study, 21 tennis players who attended International Tennis Cup 12 under organized by Antalya Tennis Club were volunteered. In tennis players, balance performance with Balance Error Scoring System (BESS) and agility performance with T test was measured. To determinate the correlations between parameters, Pearson Correlation Coefficient and Spearman Correlation Coefficient were used to according to normality test. No correlation was found between agility and single leg stance, tandem stance and total BESS scores in stable surface (p 0.05). There was a significant correlation between agility and double leg, single leg and total BESS scores in foam surface (p 0.05). No correlation was found between agility and tandem stance BESS scores in foam surface (p 0.05). Significant correlations were found between agility and total single leg stance score and total BESS score (p 0.05). On the other hand, there was not significant correlation between agility and total double leg and tandem stance BESS scores (p 0.05). As a result, these findings suggest that agility performance related with balance performance in tennis players aged 12. This data showed that balance performance could be reflected with agility performance in young tennis players.
