Abstract :
Colostrum, which is produced by breast soon after birth, is a quietly different liquid from normal milk in terms of color and composition. The protein intake is highly important in nutrition for the athlete. Milk proteins are mostly- used ones among proteins. Colostrum has recently been used by athletes as a good source of protein, and it is an effective factor in developing muscles and body image, creating a healthy and strong immune system, shortening the regeneration period after trainings and competitions, decreasing the wound healing time and reducing stress in competitions. As a result of this study, body building sportsman, cyclists, hockey players, persons interested in sports requiring endurance and especially athletes are given advice to use colostrum. In this study, the characteristics of colostrum and its usage for athletes will be evaluated.
