The rise of new media raises the vexing question of why it has influence in readership. In some ASEAN countries it has managed to topple the stratum of reliability and credibility of the traditional media. The article argues and underlines the situation in some ASEAN countries. Two key factors were discussed—the contradiction of information gravity between the new media as communication pluralism and the traditional media as singularism communication.
