Abstract :
A lot of reading materials, including magazines, are targeted towards adults because of the purchasing power they have. However, the demand for reading materials for children is gaining much attention among publishers. In terms of markets, products for children have a lot more potential compared to other demographic groups. For McNeal (1999), the children market is a major one as they can spend money, or influence their parents to buy publications for their own needs via direct or indirect request. With a growing number of publications and a variety of magazines available in the market, it is important for publishers to adjust the content of their magazines to ensure a fit to the needs of this niche. What should be considered in the contents of a magazine for children? This article will discuss this issue with reference to three children magazines in Malaysia: Kuntum, E-Baca and Ana Muslim. Analysis of the content and elements contained therein identified the form and features of these magazines. Overall, children magazines available in the market contain cartoons, comics and colourful artwork in various columns and sections to encourage them to read and continue buying it
