Abstract :
The aim of this study was to evaluate the effects of different polishing systems on surface roughness of nano-composites. For this purpose, two nano-composites (Grandio, VOCO ve Filtek SupremeUltra Enamel, 3M/ESPE) and three polishing systems were used. 40 samples were prepared for each of the composites (N=80). All the samples were prepared in a plexiglass molds againist a polyester strip. The samples were divided into 4 subgroups for different polishing systems (n=10). Except the control groups, all the other remaining groups were finished with cabid bur and following polishing systems were performed: Soft-Lex XT (Group SL), PoGo (Group PG), Astropol( Group AS). Profilometer was used for assessing the surface roughness of composite samples. Parametric two-way analyses of variance were used for statistical evaluation of average roughness data of samples (Ra) and Tukey HSD tests were used for multiple comparison of averages (p=0,05) Two of the resin composite groups were compared, the lowest Ra value was obtained at Filtek SupremeUltra Enamel group, the highest Ra value was obtained in Grandio group, and this difference was statistically significant (p 0,05). When the different polishing techniques compared in terms of surface roughness, the lowest Ra values were monitored in Group K, Group SL and Group PG, respectively and there were no statistically significant difference between these group. The highest Ra value observed in Group AS and this difference was statistically significant (p 0,05).
