Abstract :
Fusion is rare developmental anomaly of the dental hard tissue and is defined as the union of the adjacent teeth or the union of a normal and supernumerary tooth at some stage in their development. The case report presents the hemisection of a permanent maxillary right lateral incisor tooth fused with a supplemental tooth which required multidisciplinary treatment. A 11-years-old girl applied to the orthodontics clinic with the esthetic complaint of the upper anterior region. In the intraoral and radiographic evaluation, it was occurred the fused teeth had two root canal and two separate roots. The fused teeth was separated with diamond bur and the distal part of the tooth was extracted. Then the remaining portion was recountered and reshaped with resin composite to reestablich aesthetic appearance. Following the restoration of the lateral incisor, the diastema was closed by orthodontic treatment. At the end of the treatment, to create bilateral symmetry , gingivectomy was performed at upper incisor area and given the patient a more aesthetic smile. Cases which includes dental anomalies like malocclusion, fusion, ectopic eruption and asymmetric gingival margin can be treated successfully with multidisciplinary treatment approaches.
