Abstract :
Open bite cases during growth may originate from pathogenetic factors like undesired growth pattern, oral respiration, sucking habits, abnormal tongue posture and tongue thrust. If non nutrition based sucking habits like thumb and pacifier sucking are continued after ages of 2-3, undesired dental arch formation and bad occlusal relationship will develop. Open bite cases may be treated with habit breakers as they intercept bad habits. In this case, treatment of an nine year old male subject who had open bite and tongue thrust with a practical habit breaker is aimed. Pretreatment, posttreatment and 2 years follow up materials were analyzed.
