Abstract :
Scientifically implant is an artificial device that inserted into the tissues of the human body, in order to restore the missing part. Implantation is called the placement of non-viable tissue or alloplastic material inviable tissues in order to help various functions of the organism. According to The World Health Organization (WHO) 2011 data, the average life span of people has increased to 2-7 years. However, during prosthetic restorations, type of restorative treatment, and the amount of residuel bone, emerges as the most important factors about aesthetic concerns. Nowadays, most of the planning authority, in accordance with prosthetic aim is not only tooth, but also to protect the bone. Dental implants may be applied as those clinical conditions; “Totally and partially edentulous patients, maxillo-facial defects, totally edentulousness characterized with increased crest resorption, patients who have difficulty in the use of removable partial denture, patients who refused to use removable dentures, patients who don’t want to be prepaired their teeth, patients with fixed prosthesis with a long gap etc.” The aim of this review is to evaluate the prosthetic dentistry in the last 20 years, dental implants which have a stronger influence of all the innovations in dentistry for the intended use and to make a brief overview of the advantages and disadvantages of implants.
