Abstract :
The golden age of the Ancient Arab Scientific tradition is 13-15th century. Their translations from Greek, Persian and Syrian manuscripts were enriched with innovative research. Their innovation in Chemistry was experimental leading to the design and use of instruments and techniques. This was also important for the development of industries like perfumes, cosmetics, metallurgy, dyes, pigments and pharmacopeia. In this research Project the main goals are to seek and study documents like manuscripts of that period in the Arab Civilization related to Chemistry and Industries, their impact in Europe and to interpret them in the light of modern chemical theories. The publication of a comprehensive bibliography, including the proceedings of Symposia related to this Project and the construction of a database and website are also important tasks to achieve. Several Topics will be discussed in International Symposia to be held in Arab and Mediterranean Countries with the participation of experts in Chemistry, History of Science, Linguists and Archeologists with an appropriate regard to age and geographical balance, encouraging the involvement of young researchers. There will be a strong social and cultural dimension associated with this project which will be accomplished through the dissemination of results in written and multimedia form.
