Abstract :
3-Amino-6-methyl-1H-pyrazolo[3,4-b]quinoline was synthesized in good yield. Monoazo com- pounds were prepared using this intermediate as diazo component with various heterocyclic coupling components. All the azo compounds were characterized by their percentage yield, melting point, elemental analysis, UV-visible spectra, IR-spectra and dyeing performance on nylon and polyester fibres and by their antibacterial activity against gram positive and gram negative bacteria.
