Abstract
The aim of the study is to determine the basic educational problems of the children of seasonal agricultural workers who were at the age of primary education in accordance with the related public policies and the parent’s, teacher’s, school counsellor’s, and related manager’s opinions. Data were collected through semistructured interviews and observation forms. Results indicate that despite the prohibitive and supportive regulations for educational attendance, child labour in agriculture still continues. It is also found that mechanisms to determine and monitor the educational problems were not functioning effectively; thus interruption in education prevents children from cumulative and advancing learning experiences and lastly, the efforts to tolerate the educational deficiencies were in sufficient. It is concluded that the solution should not be simplified as a “pedagogical problem” and should be wholistic and in association with social conditions.
