Determination of The Yield, Quality and Losses of Mechanized Harvesting of Sugar Beet (Beta vulgaris saccharifera L.) Harvested Different Dates

This research was conducted to determine the effects of different harvesting times on yield, yield components and mechanical harvesting losses in which the roots of sugar beet during 2007, 2008 growing season in Ilgın-Konya ecological conditions. Sugar beets were harvested on 5 different dates (15th September, 1st October, 15th October, 1st November 15th November). Experiments were set up in “Randomized Complete Block Design” with 4 replications Root yield, leaf yield, sugar content, sugar yield and mechanized harvesting loss were established and analyzed. According to the means, the highest root yield on 15th November (80.88 t ha-1), leaf yield on 1st October (30.75 t ha-1), sugar content on 15th October (18.78 %), sugar yield on 15th November (14.01 t ha-1) and loss of mechanized harvesting was found on 1st October (17.95 %). Regarding obtained results, the data showed that the highest root and sugar yield with the lowest mechanized harvesting loss was on 15th November.
