  • Abstract
Urban green spaces play an important role in improving quality of life and sustainability in cities. In this study, the existing open green spaces of Aksaray were examined, the quantities of active and passive open green spaces per person were determined and the comparisons with standards were made. The study shows that the open green spaces are not distributed homogenously throughout the city and that the amounts of open green spaces per capita as well as equipment are inadequate. The green open spaces in the city must be completely planned and devised in the light of scientific, ecological and technical criterions and the necessary measures must be taken to make them adequate qualitatively and quantitatively.
