Abstract :
Potato wart disease (Synchytrium endobioticum (Schilb.) Perc.) has been one of the most important disease which restricts the potato production, since the beginning of the 1900’s when it was first determined. The control practices have had great limitations, according to the fact that disease is an soil borne; therefore, infected fields were quarantined in Europe. In this study, practices and their results for the control of the disease were summarised. High level of achievements could not be obtained in chemical control of the disease. However, the resistant potato cultivars have been determined. At present, the majority of the practices, as a effective control measurements for the disease are quarantine applications in all over the world. There is a need for detailed biological and chemical control studies on the disease.
