Abstract :
This study, aiming to determine of some sugar beet varieties yield and quality properties in Konya conditions was carried out in Konya province Ilgın County Chief Trial grounds Sugar Institute, between April and October 2011. Randomized block established in the trial study design with four replications, as the material of nine varieties of sugar beet (Stine, Coyote, Fiona, Leila, Giraf, Achat, Valentina, Rozsa and Cesira) were used. Statistically significant differences were found between root yield, leaf yield and sugar yield. At the end of the study, average root length of varieties has been found to vary between 27.6 – 30.9 cm (Achat - Cesira), root diameters 7.4 - 8.5 cm (Cesira and Fiona - Valentina), bifurcation ratios of 9.3 - 24.5% (Valentina - Coyote), root yields 5295 - 7220 kg/da (Rozsa - Valentina), leaf yields 3480 - 4961 kg/da (Rozsa - Giraf), dry matter content 18.5 - 20.6% (Coyote - Rozsa), sugar rate 14.8 - 16.5% (Coyote - Rozsa), sugar yields 837-1140 kg/da (Fiona - Valentina). The main purpose of the cultivation of sugar beet to obtain sugar from per unit area yield. From this perspective, Valentina and Stine is considered to be appropriate in the Central Anatolian Konya varieties were for the conditions.
