Evaluation of ADIM Universities By TOPSIS And VIKOR Methods Based On Analytical Hierarchy Process

Human beings are to decide all along their lives. The process of deciding is very notable in daily life. Nowadays the enterprises to survive have to decide properly. Thus, there have been developed multi-criteria methods of deciding. Multi-criteria methods of deciding make decision makers decide properly, reliably and fast in a setting of uncertainty. In this study, mostly used AHP, TOPSIS and VIKOR methods have been taken into consideration among the multi-criteria methods of deciding. For the method of AHP, decision maker incorporating both objective and subjective ideas in the process of deciding it is a method to choose the best between determining the criteria weightiness and alternatives. At TOPSIS method it is wanted selected alternative to be very far away from the closest negative ideal solution. VIKOR method aims to reach the compromise solution to supply maximum group benefit and minimum personal regret. In this study the performance of ADIM universities have been evaluated by multi-criteria methods of deciding. Adnan Menderes University, Muğla University, Pamukkale University and Süleyman Demirel University rectors gathered together at Pamukkale University on 30.01.2001 and signed a joint-protocol under the name of ADIM. This protocol aims to determine the basis of undergraduate and graduate degree programs, scientific and technological research-development projects, and joint projects of social and cultural events in the framework of the Cooperation Program by the universities geographically and historically close to each other, looking for the joint solution to the common problems. There are 14 universities situated in Anatolia in the group of ADIM universities. These universities are Adnan Menderes University, Afyon Kocatepe University, Balıkesir University, Bilecik Şeyh Edebali University, Celal Bayar University, Çanakkale Onsekiz Mart University, Dumlupınar University, Eskişehir Osmangazi University, Mehmet Akif Ersoy University, Muğla Sıtkı Koçman University, Pamukkale University, Süleyman Demirel University, Antalya International University and Uşak University. Yet, in this study 10 universities established in 1993 have been taken into consideration. For this reason Bilecik Şeyh Edebali University, Mehmet Akif Ersoy University, Antalya International University and Uşak University have been excluded. In the study, primarily at the deciding of the criteria used to evaluate the performance of ADIM universities, 21 criteria have been determined by taking account of the literature review works and the data of universities’ activity and evaluation reports. Criteria weightiness having been determined by AHP method, TOPSIS and VIKOR methods have been practiced. The same university was in the first rank at both methods.
