Abstract :
As the communication net enlarges as a result of the developing technology, the borders on earth became invisible. The instant communication and share of information prepare a place where the world becomes smaller for humans and the construction of a global structure. The Internet use that became an indispensible part of our lives support this process and it is almost considered as important as the basic needs in the hierarchy of needs. The Internet media allowing people to purchase the products and services which they need at any time and place they wish without visiting any store provides various facilities for both consumers and producers. Since the producers can broadcast their advertisements on virtual media easily, the online shopping is used more on each day. One of the products which are sold online is the clothes. According to 12 months data of TUIK for April 2014 to March 2015, 57,4% of the products to be purchased over the Internet is clothes and sports materials. The aim of this research is to determine the frequency, problems to be encountered, reasons for choosing online shopping, advantageous and disadvantageous of online shopping of university students for clothes. General scanning model is employed in the research to achieve the goal together with the questionnaire that was developed by the researchers as a measuring tool. The universe of the research is the students who are registered in public universities in Ankara. For the selection of the sampling group, the simple random method was used and the measuring tool was applied 400 students in METU, Ankara University, Hacettepe University and Gazi University to collect data. The data is analysed in SPSS 16.0 Program and it is transferred to the cross tables with reference to the gender and interpreted. As a result of the research, it is found that university students mostly purchase clothes by online shopping, they use bank/credit cards for the payment, and the online shopping provides benefits for the students since it removes the time and space restrictions.
