Abstract :
Gender discrimination is to distinctly behave to individuals. The discriminative applications are often met in familial relationships, educational life, political life, social relationships, and business life. This kind of applications, which mostly emerge in the form of negative discrimination, are generally exposed to women. What is underlying the applications of interest, which lead to inequality between woman and man, is the traditional value judgment society has. According to value judgments of interest, while the primary duty of man is to bring home the bacon, taking place in business life, what firstly expected from the woman is that she becomes a good partner and mother. As a result of these thoughts, woman could not acquire right of representation from men in the social, economic, and political area. The area where women are mostly exposed to the gender based discriminative applications is working life. The discriminative applications beginning from the process of orientation to job are also continuing in recruitment process and business life. Thus, woman not only establishes herself in business life with difficulty but also faces the difficulties in business life. Moreover, woman, who is obliged to work in view of physical impossibilities, cannot voice much more the discriminations she underwent, because she is either afraid of losing her job or refrains from her circle. On the other hand, another case woman in business life encounters is that she is also obliged to undertake her responsibilities in housework. It is expected that the female employees perfectly carry out her responsibilities in both housework and business life and, in such a case, woman gets stuck in between housework and business life and experiences the serious problems from psychological points of view. In this view, in order to reduce the discriminative applications woman experiences and even eliminate, the necessary importance is given to the issue in national and international platforms and many arrangements related to the issue are implemented The aim of this study is to reveal whether women expose to gender discrimination in labor market, with moving from the sample of Kahramanmaraş Textile Sector. The dataset used in the analyses was obtained by means of survey method. In this scope, the responses received from 480 female workers working in total 12 businesses, whose 5 are large scale, 4 medium scale, and 3 small scale, being in active in Kahramanmaraş Textile Sector, were assessed on SPSS 15 statistical analysis software.
