Abstract :
Christianity is founded on the basis of the belief in the trinity. In this belief Jesus is the father, the son, and the holy spirit, and all these concepts characterize God. However, this divinity of Jesus has been debated since the fifth century. The most important group that led to these debates was the Arius. Arius, the bishop of his own church, Alexander explained his belief in the trinity, expressed the error of this, Hz. He emphasized that Jesus was not of the same essence as God. Alexander tried to change Arius ideas, but he didn t succeed. The ideas of Arius, that is, the divinity of Jesus, have begun to be discussed throughout Rome. Constantine I tried to solve the religious problems after solving the problems in the country after he succeeded to the throne, first he followed a peaceful path and tried to mediate between the two sides, but he did not succeed. Then, in July-June of 325, the Council of Iznik convened. This council was gathered in the imperial palace. In the Council, the Aryanists tried to explain their own ideas. Those who prefer to negotiate the problems between them could not reach a result. In this council, Arius ideas were condemned, and Arius and his followers were declared heretic and excommunicated. In order for a thought to be destroyed, it must be based on a very good basis. However, the Council of Nicaea Decisions adopted to destroy Arius ideas lacked this basis. Arius was also a great logician. In such a situation, it was impossible for Arius ideas to spread or develop further. Arius died suddenly in 336. However, his ideas continued to spread rapidly. Emperor Constantinus II. supported Arius ideas in spite of these obstacles. Despite these obstacles, Arius ideas about the trinity have found serious supporters for centuries after him. XIV. century, especially by the Unitarian groups Hz. There have been many serious studies about Jesus being not a god, and therefore rejecting the belief in the trinity. In this study, it will be tried to explain how effective the discussions of Arius in the Byzantine State in the later period of Christianity.
